Election Commission Of India provides online facility for all Indian citizen to register with the portal and apply for a new Voter Id Card in respective state of residence in India. Election Commission Of India (ECI) ensures free and fair election with Voter Id Card and Voter List to identify eligible citizen to cast their vote in general, state level or mid term elections. 

Voter Id Card a widely accepted identity card can be used to show as a proof of your place of residence in India. Each valid voter in Electoral roll recieves a Voter Id Card with details of name, father name/husband name, age at the time of election year, address of residence, police station and ward. 

Voter Id Card is issued by booth level officers under the guidence of state level election commissioners. Election Commission of India has introduced facility to apply online on it's portal for ammendment in previously issued Voter Id Card details on it's website eci.nic.in

Indian citizen can apply through four types of forms for different-different purposes:

  1. Form 6 is needed to apply for getting listed in electoral roll (Having a Voter Id Card does not ensure that your name will also be in every election electoral roll. this can be checked at ECI portal)
  2. Form 6A is used by NRI to get included in electoral roll
  3. Form 8 is used to rectify any perticular information in the voter list
  4. Form 8A is used for transposition with in assembly
